New Zealand’s busiest spa, The Spa at Hanmer Springs, is proving popular with the spa market and is going from strength to strength.
Hanmer Springs Thermal Pools & Spa General Manager Graeme Abbot says he’s thrilled with the multi-million dollar spa’s continued success.
“We couldn’t ask for more right now. Our recent summer holiday season was the busiest month on record for the complex and The Spa alone saw an 11 per cent increase in business over the last year. We had over 2,500 visitors experience the luxurious treatments on offer at The Spa over the summer period, which is an extremely pleasing result,” he says.
The Spa at Hanmer Springs offers an exclusive range of beauty and therapeutic treatments and also has developed its own premium beauty product range, Alpine Aqua.
Graeme Abbot says The Spa is proving popular with both the local and international market.
“The Spa at Hanmer Springs has become the busiest spa in the country. The local spa market currently makes up 50 per cent of our spa business, with the other 50 per cent coming from international visitors, predominantly those from Australia and Europe.”
The Spa’s significant growth means it now employs over 35 staff and undertakes more than 24,000 treatments a year. Graeme Abbot says its more than 30 offerings go beyond the standard massage and facials, to full body treatments and luxurious packages.
“The Spa’s signature treatment is the Vichy massage, which consists of a heavenly massage delivered by seven high-powered water jets. Another of our popular treatments is the hot stones therapy – a specialist therapist circles heated Balinese stones around your body, while you lay on a heated massage table wrapped in soft cotton towels,” he says.
“We’ve also recently introduced some new treatments, which chocolate lovers will adore. The Chocolate Regenerative Care facial is a treatment which not only feels good, but tastes great. Our Cocoa Relaxing Body Treatment will awaken your senses and when the Hot Cocoa Wrap is applied you’ll feel fantastic as the wonderfully warming and bubbling effect relaxes you and makes your skin feel rejuvenated.”
The Spa at Hanmer Springs has been recognised as world-class facility by winning the award for Best Natural Bathing Spa at the inaugural Australasian Spa Association’s Spas of Excellence Awards.
