AMURI ESTATE OLIVE GROVE
Amuri Estate is an established olive grove with 1,300 olive trees.
The five different varieties planted are sourced from the Tuscany region of Italy and also from Spain and France.
The grove's high altitude (at 400m, possibly the highest olive grove in New Zealand), free draining soil, gently sloping land irrigated by a spring-fed stream, and its north facing aspect are the perfect ingredients for the unique character of Amuri Estate Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
'A Taste of Italy' is an informal comparative olive oil tasting session. You can sample several of New Zealand's extra virgin olive oils - each one has a unique flavour reflecting the area in which the olives are grown and the method used in pressing the fruit.
An sumptuous antipasto platter is served along with a glass of New Zealand wine. Dine inside or out taking in the amazing mountain views.
A personally guided tour of the olive grove is given by Chris or Lisa (owner operators). They will explain growing olives at Amuri Estate, and show the difference between the 5 different varieties of olives that make up their grove.
There is opportunity to purchase fresh extra virgin olive oil from the grower.
